So here’s something amazing. Starting tomorrow,

So here’s something amazing. Starting tomorrow, Southland Transportation bus drivers will be heading out into neighbourhoods with shiny yellow school buses to act as friendly, familiar beacons to alert kids to the availability of lunch and snacks while schools, camps, youth clubs and other safe spaces are closed. Southland put the call out to their drivers, and 90 of them (all of them, I believe... *every one of them*) eagerly volunteered their time to head out to lunch distribution points throughout the city.
Today a group of drivers came to Bowness to see how the group of teachers and parent volunteers distribute lunches and other meals- tomorrow they’ll also head to Forest Lawn and Penbrooke Meadows, and keep rolling from there! I’m blown away by the drivers’ enthusiasm and generosity-they’re so excited to be able to reconnect with and help support kids in our communities-as well as Craig and Andrea at Southland, who have spent hours coordinating and sorting out insurance pieces. And Southland has even offered to cover the cost of gas. People. Are. Awesome. 💛 #yyc

So much love for Mrs Noorbanu Nimji, a true Calgary treasure, who passed away last night. Mrs Nimji taught countless people to cook through her in-home classes and her self published cookbooks (which, I believe, she has sold over a quarter million copies of). Her generosity and grace has impacted so many. I’m so grateful for all she has taught me. Much love to her family and loved ones today. ❤️
